It was a good day and Luna, of course, enjoyed like crazy running around...<br />
<br />

<span style="font-family: Times New Roman, serif;">Luna
started her trip back home on 14 August, after having spent two weeks
in Tallinn. We had enough time to visit the old town and discover its
hidden corners. We also went on a daytrip to a nearby lake and even
attended a birthday party. </span><span style="font-family: Times New Roman, serif;">Of
course it was Luna who got the most attention everywhere we went. At
the birthday party it seemed as if Luna was the birthday girl. She
took over the biggest sofa and got everyone's attention. But these

<span style="font-family: Times New Roman, serif;">So
on the morning of 14 August we hit the road again. With our thumbs up
in the air. Even after our two-week stopover, Luna realized
immediately that once again it was time to ask random drivers to take
us a little bit closer to our destination. So still and quiet,
sitting behind our backpacks, it was hard not to confuse her with the
luggage. That day we reached the south of Estonia. We planned to
spend the night there in the country house, and to continue the
following morning. </span>

<div style="margin-bottom: 0cm; orphans: 0; widows: 0;">
<span style="font-family: Times New Roman, serif;">They
say that the trip back home always seems quicker. And this is exactly
what happened to us on our first </span><span style="font-family: Times New Roman, serif;">week returning to Spain. Just three days had passed since we had left Tallinn, and we were already in
Kezmarok, Slovakia. There we stayed with Maros, a friend we had first
met two years ago in Malaga, where he was doing his Erasmus. We spent
two days there and took advantage of the chance to leave the
backpacks in the house and go to discover the impressive mountains
around Kezmarok.</span> <span style="font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif;">As
usual, whenever Luna is off the leash and she has huge green fields
in front of her, she started running like crazy, jumping into
puddles, and disrupting the peace and quiet of the nature around us.
To see her was to feel her happiness. The happiness of a sweet girl
who just wants to please everyone.</span></div>

<div style="margin-bottom: 0cm; orphans: 0; widows: 0;">
<span style="font-family: Times New Roman, serif;">On
20 August we reached Vienna. When we were hitchhiking in a gas
station in Bratislava (about 70 km from Vienna) the dusk was falling
upon us. We started to have doubts whether we would reach our
destination that night. Suddenly, a blue van stopped. The driver had
no idea where the capital of Austria was, and his English vocabulary
consisted of no more than ten words. He showed me the GPS to see his
route and it turned out that it did pass through Vienna. So we got in
the car and on several occasions I asked him if he could leave us
inside the city because it was too late to keep on hitchhiking on the
highway. With a puzzled look, he nodded without saying a word.</span> <span style="font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif;">In
the end, he didn't take us to Vienna. He dropped us off in a gas
station on the highway 5 km from the city. It was already night and
it was pouring rain. Luna, as always, passed the time sitting next to
us without any complaints. We didn't know what to do. After
considering the few possibilities we had, we decided to call Michael,
the couchsurfer who was waiting for us.</span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0cm; orphans: 0; widows: 0;">

<div style="margin-bottom: 0cm; orphans: 0; widows: 0;">
—<span style="font-family: Times New Roman, serif;">Ehh,
not really...One guy left us in a very bad place. It's a gas station
with an Ibis hotel next to it. We know that we are somewhere 5 km
around Vienna. Do you know how to get out of here?</span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0cm; orphans: 0; widows: 0;">
—<span style="font-family: Times New Roman, serif;">I
don't really know where you are, guys. But ask for the address in the

was such a relief to hear these words. I hugged Anna and Luna and

no time and took us to his house, where his girlfriend and friend
greeted us. Luna was welcomed like a princess. They allowed her to go
on the sofas and Luna showed her gratitude by licking them endlessly.

<div style="margin-bottom: 0cm; orphans: 0; widows: 0;">
<span style="font-family: Times New Roman, serif;">On
Saturday afternoon we made it to Innsbruck, a lovely town surrounded
by mountains. Yet another couchsurfer greeted us with arms wide open.
Franzi, an attentive girl with a big smile, saved us from having to
camp in chilly Innsbruck. Luna was in seventh heaven when she met her
and her friends and roommates. So many new people to greet! She could
not get enough of all the cuddling and caressing. The next day we
decided to go hiking to take advantage of the breathtaking
mountainous scenery around Innsbruck. Luna loved that hiking day.
Nothing makes her happier than seeing endless fields in front of her.
She greeted everyone who crossed her path, approached goats and cows
with curiosity and caution, and ran aimlessly around the fields, as
if the trip has just started. </span>

<span style="font-family: Times New Roman, serif;">The
next day Zürich was waiting for us. It only took us two rides to get
there. The first driver was a young Austrian, happy to meet
hitchhikers to keep him company on his long journey. The second one
was a German gentleman who had been living in Zürich for quite a
while. When he stopped the car, we weren't sure whether he had
stopped for us. It was a new sports car that pulled over two metres
away from us. I approached the car out of curiosity, and the driver
signaled me closer with his hand, while reorganizing the things
inside the car with the other hand. He turned out to be a very nice
man who also used to hitchhike in his youth. Not only did he take us
to the Swiss capital, but he also gave us a little tour, showing us
the main tourist attractions. And when he said goodbye, he did so
with 20 francs in his hand. "In Switzerland you're going to need
this". </span>

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: right;"><span style="font-size: xx-small;">Saying good bye to Ahmed in Geneva</span></td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0cm; orphans: 0; widows: 0;">
<span style="font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif;">We
spend two days in Zürich, once again couchsurfing. This time our
host was Mary, with whom we walked </span><span style="font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif;">all over the city, even though the
steady drizzle didn't let us enjoy ourselves as much as we would have
liked to. But anyway, we had a great time, and everyone who
approached Luna in this city got their share of love from her. But we
had to continue, Spain was not so far anymore. So on 27 August we
returned to Geneva. This was the first city that we visited twice on
our trip. Ahmed, the guy who had invited us to spend a day on his
boat the first time we were in Geneva, received us in his house
again, together with his sweet family. Luna ran up the stairs and
entered the house as if we had never left. She remembered everything.
The next morning Ahmed kindly took us to the entrance of the highway
in the direction of France.</span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0cm; orphans: 0; widows: 0;">
<span style="font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif;">We
were having a streak of good luck. During the last week and a half,
we had set up the tent only a few times. We had almost always had a
roof over our head, whether thanks to old friends, new friends we
made on the road or people who offered to host us through
Couchsurfing. Also, the drivers who gave us a lift were all friendly
and nice people. And they were all delighted to see Luna. Everything
seemed like a piece of cake. There were moments when it didn't feel
like a real adventure anymore. However, when we got to France, a
country that is normally a paradise for hitchhikers, we ran out of
luck for a couple of days.</span></div>

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: right;"><span style="font-size: xx-small;">Waking up in Montpellier</span></td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0cm; orphans: 0; widows: 0;">
<span style="font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif;">A
friendly French woman gave us a ride to Montpellier. While we were
still on the road, she offered us to stay in her house for the night.
The last couple of days had been quite exhausting, so the thought of
being able to sleep with a roof over our head was really appealing.
But things didn't work out as planned. When we got to Montpellier,
she asked us to wait for her in her van because she had to take care
of some business with her friend. She said she would be back in five
minutes. An hour had passed, and there was still no sign of her.
Finally, his friend came to talk to us, though he didn't speak a word
of English. In a fast-paced French and with no manners he told us
that his friend had some problems and that there was no point in
waiting for her. So we took our backpacks and wandered around the
neighborhood. It was midnight and we were in the centre of the city.
Luna walked beside us, unaware our concerns. For her, being next to
us was all she wanted. The good news was that we had already been to
Montpellier before, and we knew the city a little bit. So we decided
to sleep in a big badly lit park that we remembered from our last
visit. It was right in the city centre, but we saw other people
sleeping there, some even in a tent.</span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0cm; orphans: 0; widows: 0;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0cm; orphans: 0; widows: 0;">
<span style="font-family: Times New Roman, serif;">We
woke up early, cuddled up with Luna. Even though we had spent the
night without the tent, and with people and dogs all around us, Luna
had never left our side. This had probably been the worst experience
of our trip (not because of the dangerous situation but mainly
because of the disappointment), but it made us love our staffy even
more. We are sure that if she were a human being her boundless love
would be changing the world. </span>

who had hosted us on our way to Estonia, opened their doors to us
once again.</span> <span style="font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif;">We
were all happy to see each other again. The mutual fascination
between Luna and the cat Baloo, that we had witnessed almost two
months ago, continued, leaving us all flabbergasted. “I'm sure if
they spent a couple of weeks more together, they would end up being
completely inseparable”, said Olga, looking at the two playing with
each other, each one in their own way.</span></div>

<span style="font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif;">A
few days later we returned to Malaga. We tried to keep on hitchhiking
from Barcelona, but soon we gave up. It was a useless effort, and we
didn't want to end the trip with bad vibes. So that's why we decided
to use carsharing. The last driver dropped us off in Malaga on
September 6, exactly two months after we had started the trip. Luna
and I wanted to continue. This had been a great experience and it had
taught us a lot. Why not continue? Our staffy wanted to keep on
spreading love around the world, debunking myths about dangerous
dogs. Well, for now the adventure is over, but maybe one day we will
start another one, called Luna on the road 2.</span></div>

rechistar. Nosotros no sabíamos qué hacer.
</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0cm;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0cm;">
—Hola Michael, soy Daniel de

<div style="margin-bottom: 0cm;">
—Hola Daniel, ya estáis en Viena?</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0cm;">
lado. Sabemos que estamos a unos 5km de Viena. ¿Sabes si hay alguna
forma de salir de aquí?</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0cm;">
—No sé exactamente dónde estáis,
chicos.
recogeros.</div>

<div style="margin-bottom: 0cm;">

¡Cuánta gente nueva a
la que saludar! No daba abasto con tanto mimo y caricia. Al día
siguiente fuimos de senderismo. Había que aprovechar las
interminables montañas de la ciudad. A Luna ese día le vino de
maravilla.

Me acerqué

volvimos a Geneva.
agradable volver a verlos.
dirección a Francia.</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0cm;">

<div style="margin-bottom: 0cm;">

<div style="margin-bottom: 0cm;">
</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0cm;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0cm;">
Despertamos temprano y abrazados a
Luna.

<div style="margin-bottom: 0cm;">
Al día siguiente, domingo 31 de
agosto, llegamos a Toulouse. La pequeña mala experiencia había
terminado.
encima a comerlo a lametones.

<div style="margin-bottom: 0cm;">
Dos días después llegamos a
Barcelona.
<div style="margin-bottom: 0cm;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0cm;">
Pocos días después regresamos a
Málaga. Probamos seguir haciendo autostop desde Barcelona, pero
pronto desistimos. Era un esfuerzo inútil y no queríamos terminar
este viaje con malas sensaciones. De modo que decidimos viajar en
blablacar.
peligrosos y destrozando cualquier prejuicio.
Luna on the road 2. </div>

On the morning of Friday, July 18, Geneva welcomed us with a smile on its face. That day, the first person who picked us up insisted on paying for our breakfast. "I have also traveled like this, and many people helped me. Now I want to help." </div>
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjEGoDxIBrGawg3_Ak_96-21NB3BnHZFvCTjcurFXq0cyeLSj4DLd84co7b1FyO_Iq5vo_-PpsSl5dlY2c7MkCo5kXoeUsGVu3_8nhEX-hiwze2en-OStWvoj1-AmjgGMl2YX2fteOeCZC_/s1600/IMG_3585.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjEGoDxIBrGawg3_Ak_96-21NB3BnHZFvCTjcurFXq0cyeLSj4DLd84co7b1FyO_Iq5vo_-PpsSl5dlY2c7MkCo5kXoeUsGVu3_8nhEX-hiwze2en-OStWvoj1-AmjgGMl2YX2fteOeCZC_/s1600/IMG_3585.JPG" height="320" width="213" /></a>But this was just a sneak peek of what was waiting for us that day. Ahmed, a man with a spontaneous look and a sincere smile, stopped his car to offer to take us to the highway entrance. "It's much better there." As soon as Ahmed saw Luna, he hugged her as if he was hugging a friend who just returned after a long time. Luna, of course, marked his face with kisses. Since Ahmed was a great conversationalist, we started chatting with him and we explained our project to him. Suddenly, he looked at us in the rear view mirror and proposed something we had never imagined: "You must be tired. This afternoon I'm going to the lake on my boat to spend time with my friends and family. If you'd like to have a day off, you're welcome to join us."<br />

Luna was also enjoying it a lot. There were many new humans who caressed her head and talked to her gently in different languages. Ahmed even bought food for her. The last sunbeams said goodbye when we were having dinner in the middle of the lake. Ahmed, along with his friendly wife and his curious son, invited us to stay in his house for the night. The next day they said goodbye to us with a breakfast that seemed a royal banquet.</div>

We arrived there on Wednesday, July 23. On the way to Roding we had met more drivers willing to share their cars and time with strangers. Like this Austrian man (we had a very short stop in Austria before entering Germany) who drove us even further than his destination and gave us what seemed to be most of his dinner for that night. As it was a rainy day, he even offered us his umbrella. We didn't accept it though, since we had our raincoats and Luna also has an improvised raincoat, besides her own personal umbrella. Prague wasn't far and we could have got there in only one day, but we decided to go slow because nobody had answered us in Couchsurfing yet. We arrived to the Czech capital on Friday, July 25. Prague is the spectacle they say it is, but it's also a hive of tourists. In the most famous places, you can hardly walk. Anyway, the three of us enjoyed its charming views. That night we had to set up the tent again. <o:p></o:p></div>

The next morning, when we had already given up the hope to find someone to host us, someone sent a message on our phone. It was Jakub, a stranger who became our friend in two minutes. Jakub from Couchsurfing invited us to stay at his place. Luna was exhausted. The previous day we had walked quite a lot and in the morning she had met another staffy, and they had chased each other happily in the big field. So as soon as we stepped into Jakub's apartment, Luna surrendered to sleep. She woke up much later, when she realized we were about to have a barbecue. Our host had organized it spontaneously.</div>

So our departure to our next destination was on Monday, 28. That day we planned to hitchhike from Prague to Poznan. It was a real struggle for us, and we started to think that we wouldn't make it, especially because the first two people left us in nearly abandoned places where it was impossible to walk anywhere. But in the end, we made it. The last car that took us to our destination, picked us up when the streetlights had already replaced the sunlight. We felt very relieved when someone stopped the car, because the hitchhiker's first rule is not to hitchhike during nighttime: it's very unlikely that anyone will stop.</div>

In Poznan, one of our ex-roommates greeted us with arms wide open. Luna was just as happy to see her as we were. Dama, an American girl with Polish and Palestinian roots, had lived with us in Malaga for 3 months, which was enough time to become good friends. However, she always says that her best roommate was Luna. She definitely has a point, as we all know already that Luna is one adorable creature.<o:p></o:p></div>

About 400 km separated us from her. We didn't want to let this opportunity slip away. So, in the early morning of July 29, Dama took us to the train station in Poznan in order to catch up with Anna's mom before she reached Lithuania. We rejoice in a special way every time we see Luna on a train or a bus. In Spain, it's not allowed, or at least it's quite complicated. In long-distance trains, the dogs have to travel in a pet carrier. And that's a thing that Luna hates. And in the city buses in our hometown, they're completely banned. Even more in the case of "dangerous dogs". So that's why getting on a train or bus with her, as if we were walking into our living room, is always something pleasant for us. Many passengers smile when they see her and some even come closer to caress her.</div>

Anu, Anna's mother, along with her boyfriend, picked us up is Olsztyn, in northern Poland. They took us directly to Estonia. We just made a small stop in Lithuania to spend the night. The farthest point of our journey was Tallinn, but at least, after three weeks traveling, we had arrived to Estonia. Anu left us in the country house, about 20 km away from Latvia. There we met with María, Anna's sister, and her boyfriend Kristo. We spent three days resting and enjoying the endless green landscapes. Luna was astonished by that place. Right after she put a paw outside the house, she was surrounded by grass. For her, it was like a dream come true. I think she was thinking something like "Incredible! I don't need to go a long distance to be able to run free at ease." And that's exactly what she did. She ran, rolled around in the grass like a pig in a puddle, smelled everything she wanted and never stopped enjoying herself. At certain moments she stepped out of her private paradise and she looked at us as if she was trying to tell us "I love this new life. I don't want this adventure to end!" And she continued jumping and doing somersaults.</div>

En Suiza <span lang="ES-TRAD">los
planes cambiaron. Por un día, dejamos de filmar Luna on the road para dar paso
a Luna on the boat.
gente me ayudó. Ahora yo quiero ayudar".
<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
lago Leman. Si os apetece tomaros el día libre, estáis invitados". <o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
Ahmed, junto a
<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
Ella
nunca se moja, nosotros tal vez. <o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
Praga no estaba lejos y podíamos
Esa noche tuvimos
que armar la tienda otra vez. <o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
Jakub, a través
<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
No

No
aventura</span><span lang="ET">!</span><span lang="ES-TRAD">". Y siguió dando brincos y
volteretas. <o:p></o:p></span></div>

She loves this adventure we are having. She has traveled sleeping in all the cars, without making any noise and in all the houses we have been, she has greeted the people as if she had known them for all her life. That's the way she is, a happy little girl, who likes to meet new people and dogs. On this trip she has met many and played with many. Exploring Grenoble with her parents was great, we visited La Bastille, a rather touristic mountain in the city, where she enjoyed the little paths and the views. Luna is already used to her new life. For her, it's like going out on a long walk each day. We still have a long way ahead of us before reaching our destination, but if our trip continues like this, it will be an awesome experience. Until now, we have met only good people on our way. The people who have hosted us, and the people who have stopped their car and invited us in with a smile. Now, Luna will continue her adventure.</span></span></div>

<br />
<div class="MsoNormal">
<div class="MsoNormal">
<div class="MsoNormal">
<div class="MsoNormal">
<div class="MsoNormal">
<div class="MsoNormal">
<div class="MsoNormal">
<div class="MsoNormal">

It's been more than a month since we announced it and it seems like we did it yesterday. During this time we've got to know you a little bit better, and we know now that we can not disappoint you. We are doing this for all the staffies and all the "dangerous" dogs. We want to put an end to this terrible discrimination. Our trip will be full of experiences that we will share here and in Facebook and Twitter.
The day has arrived. This started just as an idea (one of many, Luna's parents are very creative). With time it got bigger. All our friends told us "Yes, do that, it's an amazing idea". So we started to think about it very seriously. Many months later, here we are, living the adventure of our lives, all for Luna. She has taught us about real love. She's the loveliest, most obedient, gentle and amazing dog we've ever had or met. Now we want her to show her love to the whole world. We hope to bring a change not just to these kind of dogs but to the whole world. We humans beings have a lot to learn about love from our four-legged friends.
We hope to see some of you on the road. With love Anna, Dani and Luna.</span><br />

<span style="background-color: #f7f7f7; line-height: 13.625px; white-space: pre-wrap;"><span style="color: #3e454c; font-family: Helvetica, Arial, lucida grande, tahoma, verdana, arial, sans-serif;">El día ha llegado.
Con amor, Anna, Dani y Luna.</span></span>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5847309664349258966.post-37752978341658633942014-05-26T22:17:00.000+02:002014-05-27T15:19:54.580+02:001 When I was a puppy / Cuando era una cachorra<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div style="margin-bottom: 0cm;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: Arial, sans-serif;">When I
was a small puppy of just 2 months old, I had a neck contracture. For
some days I was walking around with my head a bit turned to the left.
Back then I was living with my three other sisters and many humans.
My human dad was one of the them, although he wasn't my dad yet (but
that's another story). So everytime one of them came back home, the
four of us ran to greet them. I was always the last one because I was
running with my neck problems. They said I was really cute and
irresistible running with my tongue out and my head turned to the
left. After some days, when they realized that it wasn't going away,
they took me to the vet. He said it was nothing to worry about, just
a small neck contracture. After taking the pills he had prescribed
me, I was well again. I had really liked when people looked at me
with their faces filled with compassion, had come to me and caressed
me, calling me a sweet little thing. That's why I decided to keep
turning my head on purpose. I didn't do it all the time, but they
took me to the vet again. He caught me. He said I was fine and that
was going to go away with time. Now, more than two years later I
sometimes still do it. I just like to do it, can't help it. I don't
feel any pain or have a neck contracture anymore. I just like when
people caress me and call me a sweet little thing. </span>

CUANDO ERA UNA CACHORRA</span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0cm;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0cm;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: large;">Cuando
corríamos a saludarlo.
veterinario me recetó, me sentí bien otra vez. Me había gustado mucho
mí y me acariciaban diciendo “Oh, qué cosa tan bonita”. Por eso
decidí seguir girando mi cabeza a propósito.
Simplemente me gusta
hacerlo, no puedo evitarlo. No me duele y no tengo ninguna
contractura.
